Ch. 11 Essential Questions:
You must answer these questions on a separate sheet of paper in complete sentences!
1. Describe the flow of blood through both the Pulmonary and Systemic Circuits.
a. As you describe the blood flow, you must name each chamber, valve, artery and vein in the
heart that blood travels through.
2. Explain the difference between Systole and Diastole
3. Compare and contrast the structure and function of arteries, veins, and capillaries.
4. Describe what “pulse” is and name at least 5 places on the body that you can palpate pulse.
5. Describe the function of the cardiovascular system.
6. Draw a sketch of the heart and use arrows to indicate how blood flows through it.
a. Label each structure in the heart that blood flows through.
b. Use blue arrows to indicate oxygen poor blood and red arrows to indicate oxygen rich
blood.
