Computers are important tools for learning because the power of the internet has completely
changed the nature of student research.
Exercise keeps you healthy by lowering your resting heart rate, increasing lean muscle mass,
and of course, lowering the overall amount of stored fat.
A college education is important because, unlike high school, it requires you to specialize in one
or more areas of interest.
My dream vacation is to go hiking, river rafting, and mountaineering in New Zealand.

Essay:
Just ten years ago, computers might have been optional in education, but today, education isn’t
complete without computer usage. Computers are important tools for learning because the
power of the internet has completely changed the nature of student research.
Library research used to involve tedious hours of looking in card catalogues, microfilm,
and periodical indexes. Students would have had to use manual methods for everything,
including looking up the topic in subject indexes, then finding references to the books and
periodicals needed, and finally, trudging through the library on an often fruitless search for the
materials. Students might have had trouble finding the most basic information, such as
newspaper articles on microfilm, which were hard to find and tedious to use. This meant that
students often were limited by how much information they could find.
The internet has made research faster and easier than ever before. Even though library
work is still needed, a lot of information can be found more simply, just through Google or
through proprietary search systems like university library databases. More information is
available than ever before, and students can get it very quickly. They are no longer limited by
the amount of information, but more by the quality of it.
Students must learn to use the internet wisely for research. They must learn to quickly
find basic information through online reference sources like Wikipedia and Google. However,
they also have to learn when to trust that information, and when it might be faulty, and also
when the information they can get online just isn’t enough.
By explicitly teaching internet research skills, universities will be helping students to do
better research more quickly than ever before. Ignoring sites like Wikipedia and insisting that
students use library resources for information that can more easily be found electronically
doesn’t improve the quality of their education. Computers are here to stay, and they must be
integrated into educational programs.
