Profile of Individual
Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi
- part of the Shi'ite group of Iraq
- born 1942 in Baghdad, Iraq
Our current role in the issues is:
- War in Iraq raised distrust between the
United States and the Arab nations. This
also increased tensions between Arab
nations and the United States supported
nation of Israel
- Much of the world see the war in Iraq a
miscalculation on the United States of
America’s part as per the root of the
conflict in the Middle East.
- As a nation with the primary population
of Islam Iraq supports and is a member
state of the Arab League of Nations. We
support propositions set forth by this
League of Arab States as we support the
Arabs of Palestine.
Our anticipated role in the issues is:
- It is anticipated that Iraq will take on a role of
support behind the people of Palestine. At this
point in time Iraq strongly opposes the presence
and actions of the Jewish forces and wants for
Palestine to be returned to the Islamic area it
once was.
My current role in the issue is:
Believes Iraq should call on US for
security help
political reluctance to ask US troops for
security support should be reconsidered
Iraq should consider calling for more
help from US forces
Iraq needs to decide how the remaining
US forces can best be used
Our anticipated role in the issues is:
- propose an “alliance” between the United
States and Iran, which would lessen Iranian
interference in Iraqi affairs, including the flow
of fighters and weapons across the border
something that has recently lessened but is still
of concern to Iraqi and US officials
-
-
is a trained economist who left Iraq in
1969 for exile in France
attended high school at Baghdad
College, an elite American Jesuit
secondary school.
