Use terminology associated with digital images and their use. Acquire digital images using a digital camera, scanner, CD/DVD collection, the Web and by taking screenshots. Examine lesson plans that incorporate digital images into teaching and learning. Develop student-centered activities that use digital images in learning. Plan and develop lessons that align with state curriculum standards, NETS•S, and require students to use digital images to promote their learning. Determine ethical and legal uses of digital images and files in an electronic environment. Examine methods for adapting and using digital materials with special learners. In this chapter, students could 1) 2) 3) 4) Reflect on ways to integrate digital images into your classroom. Reflect on the completion of the image collection. Reflect on the completion of a scavenger hunt. Reflect on ways to adapt word processing tools for use with special learners as explained within the chapter. SAMPLE LESSON OUTLINE Prior to lesson Introduction Key Concept Focus Application Students should read chapter 7 and complete core knowledge/skills check sheet Introduction to chapter information with discussion of digital images How to obtain images How to resize and change the resolution of images. How to upload to a blog and a wiki. How to use scavenger hunts within your classroom. How to use Photosharing (specifically Picasa) Students collect images with a digital camera, a scanner, a CD collection (Big Box of Art), a web collection and a screenshot. Images are uploaded to Picasa for grading. When students collect the images, they are taught the importance of resizing and putting the resolution at 72-96 before putting on Picasa. Student teams participate in a scavenger hunt by collecting items listed on the hunt on campus. They insert in Google Presentation for assessment and sharing. Questioning Practice/ Feedback Assessment \ Explain resolution and how it differs for the electronic and print mediums? What is the function of images used for decoration? What is the function of images used for organization? What is the function of images used for representation? What are pixels and how are they involved with digital images? What is the difference in raster and vector images? What causes red eye? What causes blurring of an image that is taken with a digital camera? What file formats are acceptable for the web? Practice obtaining digital images with a camera, scanner, CD collection, web collection and screen shot. Practice resizing and changing the resolution of digital images in order to use them in electronic files. Upload the scavenger hunt to the blog. Test Bank – chapter 7 Reflective blog #7
