Molecules can be made up of different numbers of atoms.
Molecules made of different numbers of the same atom are different
substances.
Structure of molecules
A molecule’s shape has an effect on the properties of the substance.
Long-chain molecules are called polymers.
The structure of molecules can affect the substance’s boiling and melting points.
Polymers make good lubricants. A lubricant is a substance that reduces friction
between two substances.
Crystal structure
Crystals occur when atoms combine to form repeating patterns.
Atoms and molecules are always in motion.
This motion may be hard to observe.
