Last summer, an insurance company researcher conducted a survey on the number of car thefts
in a large city for a period of 30 days. The stem-and-leaf display below shows the number of car
thefts for the 30-day period. Notice the range of car thefts is from 50 — 77.
Note: It is a standard statistical technique is to repeat the stems so that only leaves from (0 - 4)
are included in a row, likewise for leaves (5 - 9). This technique is used to reduce the number of
values in a row and to facilitate the reading of the values relatively quickly.
