Spelling Homework Menu Directions: Choose 2 different activities below each week from this Spelling Homework Menu to help you study your spelling words. Title each assignment with the activity you choose. Turn in your two activities on Friday with your homework. Triangle Words Example: c ca cat catc catch Three Times Each Write your spelling words three times each. Cursive Write your spelling words three times each in cursive. ABC Order Write your words in alphabetical order. Recipe Write a recipe using at least 5 spelling words. Facts Write 4 facts using at least 4 spelling words in all. Opinions Write 4 opinions using at least 4 spelling words in all. A recipe is a set of instructions for making or preparing something. A fact is something that actually exists, something that is true. An opinion is a personal view, something that is not based on facts. Event Describe an event using at least 6 spelling words. Biography Write a biography about a family member using at least 6 spelling words. Autobiography Write an autobiography about yourself using at least 6 spelling words. Poetry Write a poem using at least 6 of your spelling words. A biography is a history of another person's life written by someone else. An autobiography is a history of a person's life written or told by that person. Hidden Words Draw and color a picture. Hide your spelling words inside the picture. See if someone can find your hidden words! Practice Test Take a practice spelling test with a family member. Example: A person in your family could read one of your spelling words, say a sentence with the spelling word, then repeat the spelling word while you spell the word on a piece of paper. Poetry is the emotionally charged means of written expression, and it consists of words arranged in patterns of sound and imagery. It can rhyme, but doesn’t always. Computer Type all of your spelling words three times each and print. An event is something that happens. Expository Write a nonfiction informational story using at least 7 of your spelling words. A nonfiction informational story is a story that is true. Other Handed First, write your words the way you usually do. Then, write the list using your other hand! Be creative and have fun while studying your spelling words.
