TEST TAKING TIPS:
Talk about it! –
Talk your studying. Say words out loud. Repeat answers to yourself. Talk about
it and teach it to someone else. Even pretending to teach it to someone else is
better than studying silently!
Test yourselfAfter studying a section or several notes on the study guide, test what you know.
Come up with test questions or try to answer questions a the end of the chapter
that relate to that section. Answers are in the back of the book! Try to write out
the answers to the study guide items without looking at your notes.
Dump your brainAs soon as you sit down to a test and before you write a single answer, use some
extra paper to dump any knowledge you might forget. Jot down notes about
things that were difficult during your studying. You can then refer back to this
paper during your test.
Look for answers in your testIf a question seems hard, skip it and go on to the next question. Keep an eye out
for other questions that might be hints or clues as to the one you had trouble with. Go
back at the end of the test to double check and decide on answers to the more difficult
questions.
Never, ever pass up a bonus opportunity! –
A BONUS ON THIS TEST WILL INVOLVE WHAT YOU LEARNED FROM
WATCHING AN EPISODE OF “MONSTERS INSIDE ME.” If a bonus is
offered, never fail to attempt to answer it. It is usually more difficult to get full
credit for a bonus question, but very seldom does someone get no credit if they
write SOMETHING that is accurate- even if it is not a complete answer or not
completely correct.
