The planning, management and co-ordination of research projects
Fields of expertise include: vegetation dynamics, community
identification, vegetation condition assessment, key species,
vegetation keys, monitoring vegetation change, habitat-analysis,
management plans.
Knowledge of the vegetation of both the grassland- and savanna
biome (including the vegetation of wetlands and riparian zones)
Various survey methods, classifying and evaluating data.
Conducted several EIA’s/EMPR’s as part of a team
Specialist studies (problem plants, habitat sensitivity, threatened
plants and suitable habitat)
Relevant projects include amongst others:

 The identification, description and mapping of the vegetation
units.
 The identification of exotic and invader plants, the
quantification of the extent of these species and the mapping
of the distribution of these species.
 Evaluate the impact of floods on the riparian vegetation of the
Olifants River System.
 The identification, evaluation and description of
environmental impacts caused by the mining and agricultural
sectors.
 Compiled an overview of the relevant environmental
legislation that control activities in the catchment and the river
system. Evaluated the recorded environmental impacts against
current environmental legislation – referred to the relevant
responsible institutions.
