The hospital is a thirty-bed hospital with a sixty-bed nursing home attached. A 24-hour rural health clinic was established during this time. St. Dominic – Jackson Memorial Hospital, Jackson, MS (1988-1992) Staff Nurse on a 39 bed orthopedic floor. Promoted to Head Nurse and then to House Supervisor As one of five house supervisors, responsible for staffing the shift and the next shift according to patient load (acuity, number, and location). Supervisors are also responsible for the smooth running of shift activities (attended all cardiac arrests, all psychiatric take-downs, all deaths, all unusual occurrences, and answered all complaints). Accepted or re-routed patients from rural hospitals as beds permitted and adjusted staff accordingly. As night supervisor, functioned as administrator on site. Northshore Regional Medical Center, Slidell, LA (1992-1993) (1985-1988) Recruited to help with the conceptualization and establishment of a Labor and Delivery Suit for the newly constructed hospital. Helped organize and supervise volunteers when Red Cross First-Aid Stations were needed for public events (state fairs, various community celebration days) Red Cross Nurse Volunteer Texas Artist Museum (TAMs) (2009-Present) (2002-2006) The Texas Artist Museum is a non-profit organization designed to bring arts to the community. The building has three galleries that feature different artist’s work on a monthly basis. Board Members’ volunteer activities included: Participation in all local festivals, Second Sunday Activities, Arts-Mart Summer Camp for children, and yearly Gulf Coast Art Show and Auction. The Friends of the Port Arthur Public Library (2002-2006) (2009-Present) The Friends of the Port Arthur Public Library is an organization that supports the Port Arthur Public Library. As a board member, my volunteer effort supported activities for the library and the annual book sale held in February. I also supported guest lecturer activities and helped ensure the children’s summer program was adequately funded. Blood pressure, blood sugar, and blood cholesterol readings were free of charge for the adult participants.
