Read Section 0-5, Pages Z12-Z13
1) Look at your MDAS worksheet. Turn it over
and write down all the different ways you can
remember to show multiplication and division,
turn the paper over to see how many you got right
2) Read Sec. 0-6, page 9, only example 1.

.When there is no operator, multiply:
3(4) means 3x4 but
3-(4) means 3 minus 4.
1) Read math left to right, with the
operator applied to the number AFTER.
3-4+8 means 3 and 8 are plus and 4 is
subtracted
2) Line up decimals when adding:
10.50 + 20 = 30.50
Multiplying by 10 makes a number
larger and moves the decimal one place.
Memorize chart on page Z17,
“A number is divisible by....”
To get rid of decimals in fractions,
multiply numerator and denominator by
tens.
All these are equivalent, memorize the
order and form: 2/3, 2  3, 3
For the sake of order, build factor trees with the
smallest primes first and on the left branch.

Plot at least 20 points, and there must be at least
one point in each quadrant so you practice where
the negative numbers get plotted. Print out and
bring to class.
Your drawing can be anything that shows
deliberate intent. In other words, you must use
this project to demonstrate you can plot points
where you want them. It must not appear
random.

change its appearance without changing
its value: 5 x 3 = 15 where 5 = 1

 A number is assumed + if it is not –
 An operator goes with the number

 Absolute value | | is the distance of
the number from zero (positive)
 < reads as “<ess”
 > reads as “greater”
