MAJOR DUTIES:












Completes initial assessment of patients at the outpatient clinic
Takes the initial health history on new patients.
Coordinates health care needs of all patients through assessment, evaluation, and referral to
appropriate resources.
Provides emergency treatment such as resuscitation.
Administers prescribed medication, oral, intramuscular, intravenous, and subcutaneous, etc.
Ensures patient flow is consistent and according to individual patient needs, routine
emergency, etc.
Orders diagnostic procedures as directed by Physician with physician signing off.
Assesses the stable phase of common chronic illnesses such as diabetes, pain and
hypertension for changes and determines level of care.
Performs complex procedures such as burn and wound dressing and debridement.
Assists physicians in surgical procedures such as casting and suturing of accident victims.
Teaches individuals and families in home care such treatments, medications, nutrition and
preventive health tests. Provides health counseling to individuals and families.
Orders equipment and supplies.


Establishes user levels and changes as indicated.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:





Associates Degree in Nursing (LPN/RN).
Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Montana.
Professional knowledge of nursing process including, principles, practices, and procedures of
nursing care required to assess and care for nursing needs of medical, surgical, pediatric and
geriatric patient and/or other types of patients
Knowledge of principles and methods of continuous quality improvement and ability to
apply.
Knowledge of and ability to incorporate, cultural impact on health care provision.
Desired Qualifications:






Registered Nurse with Licensure in the State of Montana.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Indian preference, enrolled member of the Chippewa Cree Tribe preferred.
Minimum of 6 months in ER/Critical care experience is preferred
ACLS Certified
PALS to be completed within one year of employment.
Other Selection Criteria:






Qualified Chippewa Cree members who are honorably discharged veterans will be given
preference. DD214 Required.
Chippewa Cree Tribal Preference
Will be subject to pre- employment and random drug testing
If terminated from any positions within the Chippewa Cree Tribe for violations of the Drug
and Alcohol Ordinance I-99, must have completed requirements of the ordinance.
