I. KEY WORDS
The key pronoun in this passage is the word “we.”
II. THE BENEFITS OF BELIEVING
A. We have peace with God. v. 1

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace
with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
B. We have access to God.
v. 2

Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this
grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of
God.
J.C. has given us access to God the Father!

Yet the Bible says that we have access by faith.

that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

C. We have a hope in life. v. 2b
“...and we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.”
Definition of “hope”:

When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear

D. Our problems take on a new purpose.

“...but we also rejoice in our sufferings...”
Definition of suffering:

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that
suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces
character, and character produces hope,
The benefit of suffering: Character Development!

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various
kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces
steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you
may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2–4
E. We are given God’s love through the Holy Spirit. v. 5

and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been
poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given
to us.

PROOF OF GOD’S LOVE -- VV. 6-8

For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the
ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—
though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— 8
but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.
God helps those who CAN’T help themselves!
(a) While we were powerless (v.6),
(b) While we were still sinners (v.8),
(c) While we were His enemies (v. 10)...
... Christ did for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves.
F. We have eternal security. v. 9-10

Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much
more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 10 For if
while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of
his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved
by his life.
You can be confident in your salvation.

Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to
present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great
joy, 25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord,
be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and

When a Christian sins, he doesn’t lose his salvation, he loses the
joy of salvation!

Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw
near to God through him, since he always lives to make

HOW SHOULD WE RESPOND TO ALL THAT GOD
HAS GIVEN US?

More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
