Psalm 98:4-6
Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing
praises! Sing praises to the Lord with the
lyre, with the lyre and the sound of melody!
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
make a joyful noise before the King, the
Lord!

DISCIPLESHIP
“Discipling others is the process by
which a Christian with a life worth
emulating commits himself or herself
for an extended period of time to a
few individuals who have been won to
Christ, the purpose being to aid and
guide their growth to maturity and
equip them to reproduce themselves
in a third spiritual generation."
3 Parts of the
training process
Acts 16:1-5 (ESV)
1Paul
came also to Derbe and to
Lystra. A disciple was there,
named Timothy, the son of a
Jewish woman who was a believer,
but his father was a Greek. 2He
was well spoken of by the brothers
at Lystra and Iconium. 3Paul
wanted Timothy to accompany
him, and he took him and
circumcised him because of the
Jews who were in those places, for
they all knew that his father was a
Greek.
Acts 16:1-5 (ESV)
4As
they went on their way through
the cities, they delivered to them
for observance the decisions that
had been reached by the apostles
and elders who were in Jerusalem.
5So the churches were
strengthened in the faith, and they
increased in numbers daily.
1) Finding a Disciple to Train
A) Be obediently
MINISTERING (vs 1a)
B) Be LOOKING (vs 1b & 2)
C) Be BLIND (vs 1c)
D) Be COMMITTED (vs 3-5)
2 Timothy 3:10-17 (ESV)
10You,
however, have followed my
teaching, my conduct, my aim in
life, my faith, my patience, my love,
my steadfastness, 11my
persecutions and sufferings that
happened to me at Antioch, at
Iconium, and at Lystra—which
persecutions I endured; yet from
them all the Lord rescued me.
12Indeed, all who desire to live a
godly life in Christ Jesus will be
persecuted,
2 Timothy 3:10-17 (ESV)
13while
evil people and impostors
will go on from bad to worse,
deceiving and being deceived.
14But as for you, continue in what
you have learned and have firmly
believed, knowing from whom[a]
you learned it 15and how from
childhood you have been
acquainted with the sacred
writings, which are able to make
you wise for salvation through faith
in Christ Jesus.
2 Timothy 3:10-17 (ESV)
16All
Scripture is breathed out by
God and profitable for teaching, for
reproof, for correction, and for
training in righteousness, 17that the
man of God[b] may be complete,
equipped for every good work.
2) Training a Disciple
A) Be an observable
EXAMPLE (vs 10)
B) Be truthful about the TRUTH
(vs 11-12)
C) ENCOURAGE them
(vs 14-15)
D) Teach to equip for SERVICE
(vs 16-17)
1 Corinthians 4:14-21 (ESV)
14I
do not write these things to
make you ashamed, but to
admonish you as my beloved
children. 15For though you have
countless guides in Christ, you do
not have many fathers. For I
became your father in Christ Jesus
through the gospel. 16I urge you,
then, be imitators of me.
1 Corinthians 4:14-21 (ESV)
17That
is why I sent you Timothy,
my beloved and faithful child in the
Lord, to remind you of my ways in
Christ, as I teach them everywhere
in every church. 18Some are
arrogant, as though I were not
coming to you. 19But I will come to
you soon, if the Lord wills, and I
will find out not the talk of these
arrogant people but their power.
20For the kingdom of God does not
consist in talk but in power.
1 Corinthians 4:14-21 (ESV)
21What
do you wish? Shall I come
to you with a rod, or with love in a
spirit of gentleness?
3) Following through with
Discipleship
A) Lovingly admonish them in
their MISTAKES (vs 14)
B) ENCOURAGE them (vs 15)
C) CONTINUE to teach them
(vs 16-17)
D) Be PRESENT as much as
you can (vs 18-21)

2 Thessalonians 3:16
16 Now may the Lord of peace
himself give you peace at all
times in every way. The Lord be
with you all.
