Definition Essay
Non-fiction means it is true and based on real events. Essays, journals, diaries, and
many more are examples of non-fiction. The Pact book is a true story--they are three African
American men from a tough neighborhood in Newark, NJ, who in high school promised each
other to make it through medical school. The tone of the audience I would say is curious and
amazed of what they became after all they went through.
What is fiction? Fiction is prose writing that tells a story about imaginary events. What are
some non-fictions we have read? Some non-fictions we have read are “The Most Dangerous
Game” and “The Invalid Story”. Speak is fiction because it is not based on a true story. The tone
of the audience for speak were curios and had lots of suspense.
Drama is a composition in verse or prose to portray life or character or to tell a
story usually involving conflicts and emotions through action and dialogue and
usually designed for theatrical performance. Romeo and Juliet is drama because they
had continuous conflict through the story. The tone of the audience was they were
very into the play.
Epic is a lengthy narrative
poem ordinarily concerning a serious subject containing
details of heroic deeds and events significant to a culture or nation. What is The Odyssey
considered an epic? Odyssey is considered an epic poem because it is "an extended narrative
poem in elevated or dignified language. The tone of the Odyssey is very at active into it and
very well played.

Poetry is a writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of
experience in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response
through meaning, sound, and rhythm. One of my favorite types of poetry is a haiku
and rhymes in poetry. A haiku
is a Japanese poem composed of three unrhymed lines of
five, seven, and five syllables. Haiku poetry originated in the sixteenth century and
reflects on some aspect of nature and creates images. Rhymes are types of poems which
have the the repetition of the same or similar sounds at the end of two or more words
most often at the ends of lines.
