Physics – Inclines Worksheet 2
Name: __________________________
Please make a special note of the logical steps taken to analyze each problem.
1. Habasit Rossi Ltd Belting Division has developed high friction plastic modular belts for distribution
centers, airports, packaging, etc. Consider a mass 18kg package is moving at a constant velocity up the
incline at Ө=20o.
A. Draw the FBD.
B. What is the magnitude of the gravitational force?
C. The magnitude of both the parallel and perpendicular components of the gravitational force.
D. Write the formula for the sum of all forces in the perpendicular direction.
E. Use the formula above to find the magnitude of the normal force.
F. Write the formula for the sum of all forces in the parallel direction.
G. Use the formula above to find the magnitude of the friction force.
2. A man in a rollersuit has a total mass of 104 kg and rides down a 10o incline. Friction in the wheels is
negligible.
A. Draw the FBD
B. Find the magnitude of all forces acting on the man.
C. What is the magnitude AND direction of the net force?
D. What is his acceleration?
E. If he begins with a velocity of 7 m/s, how far will he roll after 30 seconds?
