Customer Development @ Unilever:

Research & Development @ Unilever:
Unilever has recently opened one of our six global R&D centers in Shanghai. Our new R&D center will be home to
600 scientists and technologists (450 people today), as well as the latest technology on chemistry, structured

Opportunities in Unilever China:
Last year, we launched a unique international program, for graduates who are fluent in Chinese- Mandarin from US
Universities, to eventually join our Marketing, Customer Development, and Research & Development functions in
our successful China business based in Shanghai.
Graduates selected for this Program will be based in our Unilever US business for the first or second
year in the program. (Marketing MTs will be based in the U.S. for two years; while Customer Development and
Research & Development MTs will be based in the U.S. for one year.) From day one, you will work on a real job
assignment to challenge and provide you with insights to the business. We will continually test and develop your
skills, building a firm foundation to kick-start your career and ensure you can make a genuine contribution.
After rotation in US, you will move to Unilever China where you will gain a deeper insight into the Chinese business.
Upon successful completion of the program, you can expect to move into a management position within the
Unilever China business. Understandably, movement into managerial role will be based on performance and is
predicated on business needs.

Qualifications & Requirements:
1. We are looking for 2013 graduates
Who love the pace and competitiveness of the retail market, and applying your creativity to solutions that
deliver results. Those are the sort of people who are happy to speak up and challenge the status quo.
Above all else you have strong interpersonal and analytical skills and a focus on the customer.
Who can speak and write fluent Chinese -Mandarin, as these positions will ultimately be located in China.
2. RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT APPLICANTS ONLY: Masters and PhD students in the disciplines of
Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biology, Bio-Chemistry, Measurement & Analytics, Foods
Science, Engineering Science, Process Engineering / Sciences, Packaging Engineering / Sciences, Behavior Science,
and other related majors. We offer roles across Fundamental research, formulation, packaging and go to market
3. Since graduates selected for this Program will work for the first one or two years in the US before moving to
China, we expect our hires into the Program to either:
1) Have work authorization in the U.S. OR
2) Will need to apply for and obtain a U.S. work visa (H1B, etc)
Unilever will sponsor a U.S. work visa for International students. The offer to join
this Shanghai Management Trainee Program will be subject to possessing a valid
work visa in the U.S.
3. In case, if any selected graduate is unable to obtain a US work visa, then we could extend them a
separate offer to join our Unilever China Management Trainee Program , based at Shanghai, which is a
similarly structured, prestigious and intensive program leading to managerial roles in Unilever China.
