What Astrologers Look At









What sign is on the house cusp?
Is it early or late in the sign?
What’s the ruling planet?
Where is that planet?
What house and what sign?
How is it aspected?
Are there any other signs in that house?
Is there an intercepted sign?
What are the rulers of those signs and where are their ruling planets?
What Astrology Tells Us






Polarity – are we introverted (receptive) or extroverted (active)
Mode – do we initiate, consolidate, or transform
Element – are you mental (air), spirited (fire), practical (earth) emotional (water) in
that area of your life
Sign – what’s our style, our manner
Planets – what drives us
Aspects – stressful or flowing
How to Approach It
The goal of these exercises is to help you understand your chart better. Don’t feel you need to
do all of them. Do only what makes sense for you now, or what you called to work on.


Limit what you look at
Experienced astrologers might pick something esoteric
New astrologers, pick something basic
o Polarity, Mode, Element, Sign, Planet
Experienced astrologers, push yourself to take it deeper
Keep your focus narrow
Go deep
Go internal
Trust your experience
Questions
Pick a single question. Or if your exploration of this house has led you to another question, feel
free to pursue that.





What is your relationship to relationship?
o Do you enter them easily?
o How do they end? Is there a pattern?
Explore your relationship history
o Personal, business, doctors, therapists
If you have birth data for past relationships, can you find any repeated patterns in
them? For example, do you find that there is always an aspect to one of your planets
that repeats? It might be that Saturn is always in aspect to your Moon, or Uranus is in
aspect to your Venus. Look for repetition.
Besides personal relationships, is there something in your life that you are wedded to?
What connects you to it? What does it bring you, and what do you bring it?
What throws you off balance?
o What do you do to rebalance?
Project Ideas
Pick a single project. Or if your exploration of this house has led you to another idea, feel free to
pursue that.





Do a collage about your relationships
Test your physical balance – yoga tree pose, walking on something that requires
balance. How is your balance these days?
If you could give your 14-year old self advice about relationships, what would it be?
What is the single more important thing you want or need or love in partnership?
What’s the most important thing you have to offer another?
