I have achieved a MMUS in Popular Music, focusing on composition. This has aided me to establish myself as a freelance composer and producer, alongside organising my own concerts. Soundtracks to picture. Past work includes composing soundtracks to animation show reels and composing music for freelance documentary projects. Faber Music Academy This included exploring all aspects of media composition including copy write and the business of media. I composed to briefs for documentaries, drama and TV, adverts, jingles and animation. I also composed for a live ensemble including piano, clarinet, viola and violin. Performance Work Present Currently perform my own compositions in various venues across England, including performing for Christian Aid’s Circle the City walk. Performed Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas as a soprano in Middlesex Universities Singing Ensemble, alongside the BBC Singers for a Queens Diamond Jubilee Concert. Performed classical recitals as a pianist and soprano in Keele University, Manchester Metropolitan University and a Leonard Cheshire home. Event Management May 2004 – Present In partnership that organises, promotes and supports alternative music in alternative venues, for example National Trust properties (Sutton House), and the Holy Trinity Church, Winchmore Hill. Organised Oxjam events for the charity Oxfam in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Assisted with organising the special needs students in their performance in residential homes for the elderly for part of their GCSE during my Congleton High School placement. City Lit - World Music for Adults with Learning Difficulties September 2014 – Present I manage the course ‘World Music for Adults with Learning Difficulties’. I have gained a huge amount of knowledge and practice in being extremely diverse with materials, resources and lesson delivery. The course is moderated by RARPA standards therefore evaluations and moderating progress is vital. Hertfordshire College of Music September 2014 – Present I am teaching and observing Rockschool Diploma lessons including Auditioning for Music, Recorded Music Performance, Composing and Contextualising music. This is to co-inside with my PGCE in the post compulsory sector at Havering College. Enfield Music Service and Hackney Learning Trust January 2014 - Present Delivering singing, piano and keyboard lessons to Keystage 1 and 2. Includes planning, reports and exam preparation. Eldon Junior School, Part Time Music Teacher November 2014 2010 – July My job role involved planning and delivering singing and class-room lessons indicated by the scheme of work to Keystage Brent Music Service 2 Sept 2012 – Dec 2012 Planning and delivering music lessons to key stage 1 and 2. A wide syllabus is covered including singing, recorders, samba and beat boxing. Vocal teaching is a large part of the syllabus and is at the heart of Brent’s music lessons. Skills As a self-employed musician I am an independent worker who finds it easy to use my own initiative. I work in teams as part of my teaching, I am constantly liaising with other teachers and year leaders. Use of ICT skills including Logic, Protools, Sibelius, Apple Macs, Microsoft Vista and Word Software. Organising and managing my own projects, events and workshops. Working with others, including in a performance environment. Good improvisation skills. Able to sight-read music. Opera North Training Day – I Experienced workshops by a variety of different vocal leaders including gospel harmony, improvisation and posture techniques. Aimed at teaching for all ages. Streetwise Opera Training Day for Vulnerable Adults - A training day based on teaching Opera to Vulnerable Adults/homeless people. Music making was made extremely accessible and encouraging. Techniques I learned would be suitable to teach children with learning difficulties. World Music in the Classroom – A day course together with a week long evening class looking at Indian, Middle Eastern, Jamaican, African and Indonesian music at SOAS. Hobbies and Interests I am interested in culture and travel to many other countries. Various dance classes. Swimming. 3
