THE CHURCH OF GOD OF PROPHECY 47 Pine Hill Centreville, AL 35042 MINISTER: Leonard Chance (205) 926-7706 www.thegreatspeckledbird.org [email protected] THERE IS NONE OTHER GOLDEN TEXT: Isaiah 28:17 – Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. The Church was founded on God’s Doctrine; delivered by the prophets of the Old Testament, and the apostles of the New. This foundation is a tried stone, a chosen stone, fully able to support His Church and anything the world may throw in its path. It’s a sure foundation on which to build: precious in the sight of the Lord. “Upon this rock I will build my church.” Christ himself is the Rock, the tried foundation of the Church. Woe to any that attempt to lay any other. Hold onto the Truth and preach nothing else! Corrupt opinions and doctrines have no place in His Church. People can lie to themselves and others; but there is a day coming that will show their actions in the true light, without covering or disguise. All must consider their ways and compare them with God's Word. 1 Matthew 21:42 – Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes? The Bible tells us that Christ is the Chief Cornerstone AND Head of the Church: not man. Many have chosen not to submit to Christ’s Doctrine or His authority, choosing instead to despise Him and cast Him aside as a despised stone. But Christ knows who will bring forth the True Gospel. As the firm Foundation and Cornerstone of His Church, we must be willing to follow Him and make Him our God. Acts 4:11 – This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. The very one the world crucified made our Salvation possible. Today many are just as bad as those that murdered the prophets and crucified Christ. All must be saved by that same Jesus or perish forever. Instead they desire to live according to their lusts, without reprove! But when corruption rules within, men shut their eyes, and close their hearts against the light; considering all as ignorant and unlearned. The name of Jesus is given whereby all men can be saved from the wrath to come. Job 38:4 – Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. 2 “Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof.” God created the earth, the sea and every thing in it. “Where wast thou?” God shows men their ignorance. The work of creation can never be broken; and the work of Redemption is just as firm, of which Christ Himself is both the Foundation and the Corner-stone: a stone, firm and fully able to support His Church: a tried stone, a chosen stone, approved by God. 1 Peter 2:6 – Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. “The stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner.” Many don’t consider what this Scripture means or its necessity. The world may be falling to pieces, but those who built on this foundation have nothing to fear. They shall not be confounded. Though despised and hated for His sake we must be willing to follow Him and let Him be our Ruler. Christ is the only foundation of hope for escaping the wrath to come. Acts 4:12: Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. 3 To make light of the approaching Judgment is a grave mistake. He who rests all his hopes, and his neverdying Soul on the foundation which His Church is built upon, shall never be disappointed. Though once in darkness, they are called into a state of joy, pleasure, and prosperity. Many consider not the necessity to partake of the Salvation Christ has wrought. All whom God has chosen are distinct from the world: of another spirit, principle, and practice; which they could never be, if they had not been chosen. Let all who have obtained Mercy, walk as His people. Christ's name is Wonderful and the Redemption He made possible is the most amazing of all God's wondrous works. 4
