Flu vaccine
• You may have to roll up your sleeve •
Getting your annual flu vaccine always beats the alternative,
and as an Oxford Member, you’re completely covered*.
As we head into the fall and winter seasons, getting your annual influenza vaccine and a pneumonia
(pneumococcal) vaccination, when appropriate, is important for your health. That’s why Oxford offers
both vaccines at no cost to Oxford Medicare Advantage® Members *.
Medical studies** show that a preventive flu vaccination*** reduces the chance of infection and lessens
the severity of symptoms, even if you do get the flu. Studies also show that a pneumococcal vaccination
protects you from getting pneumonia, which can lead to a serious infection in the blood or brain that
can cause dangerous health problems. Vaccinations are especially important for older adults and people
with chronic conditions, such as heart disease and diabetes.
Start preparing now to stay healthy this season. Call your doctor today and make an appointment to
discuss the benefits of vaccination. We’ve enclosed a handy Vaccination Card for you to bring along to
the doctor’s office.
*Some plans require copayments, deductibles and coinsurance. Please check your Summary of Benefits or Evidence
of Coverage for more information. If additional services are received during a visit, a copayment may apply.
