decided to continue to save quarters. She put the same amount of quarters into the jar
every month. After 8 months she had 376 quarters. After 15 months she had 600

months. Predict how many quarters she will have after 36 months.
2) Since the time Justin was born, the population of his town has increased at a rate of
about 420 people per year. On Justin's 9th birthday, the population was 145,205 people.
Write an equation to represent the population of Justin's town in terms of his age. If this
rate of growth continues, what will the population of the town be when Justin is 18?
3) In 1990, the United States produced 152 million tons of trash. In 1985 the United
States produced 164 million tons of trash. Write an equation to represent the amount of
trash the United States produces in any year. Let x represent the year where 1980=0.
Predict the amount of trash the United States will produce in 2010.
4) Katie bought a used car for $12600. Each year the value of the car is expected to
decrease by $1350. Write an equation modeling the value of the car over time. Predict
the value of the car after 6 years.
