21. Caption: a title or explanation, usually in a brief paragraph, which is put above a picture, diagram, cartoon, or
any kind of illustration.
22. Characterization: is the method used by a writer to develop a character. The method includes: (1) showing the
character's appearance, (2) displaying the character's actions, (3) revealing the character's thoughts, (4) letting the
character speak, and (5) getting the reactions of others.
23. Coming-of-age story: A type of novel where the protagonist is initiated into adulthood through knowledge,
experience, or both, often by a process of disillusionment. Understanding comes after the dropping of
preconceptions, a destruction of a false sense of security, or in some way the loss of innocence.

24. Cliché: An over- used expression. Example: “Failure is not an option.” “All that jazz.” “The grass is greener on
the over side.”
25. Climax: The part of a story or play, at which a crisis/debacle/problem is reached.
