I was expecting skin and eye problems due to the lack of coat but have not see this. I have not seen certain conditions such as fleas, skin infections, self-trauma barbering that are common in other breeds. OVERALL EVALUATION/ADVICE (Please comment on any unusual requirements/tendencies for the Peterbald breed, and note comparisons to cats in different age groups, sexes, coat types, etc., as well as to other breeds. Include your recommendations for improvement of deficiencies noted or any special care needed): I have been pleasantly surprised with working with the breed. They tend to have very nice personalities and few medical issues. Other long-standing breeds such as Persians have many more respiratory and eye problems but are still very popular throughout the world. The Peterbald definitely is the cat of choice for people with asthma and/or allergies. Mrs. Mannino has done an excellent job in only selecting to breed her healthiest cats. Not all breeders (of ANY breed) are willing to make difficult decisions and sometimes will choose quantity over quality. I feel that Mrs. Mannino’s selection process for QUALITY especially in her first few years is the reason we see very few medical cases.
