... With this method, an AC current flows between probes 1 and 2 and causes joule heating of the semiconductor. The Seebeck voltage is generated between probes 3 and 4 by the diffusion of thermally generated carriers from the hot region of the material to the cold region. This diffusion creates a non-eq ...

... All electrical components produce heat. To avoid overheating and damage to components and the AC drive, the heat needs to be dissipated. There are several methods to cool an AC drive. The most common method is the air cooling with a cooling fan fitted inside the drive. Other cooling methods include ...

Notice that the symbol for the unijunction transistor looks very similar to that of the junction field effect transistor or JFET, except that it has a bent arrow representing the Emitter( E ) input. While similar in respect of their ohmic channels, JFET’s and UJT’s operate very differently and shoul ...

P–n diode

This article provides a more detailed explanation of p–n diode behavior than that found in the articles p–n junction or diode.A p–n diode is a type of semiconductor diode based upon the p–n junction. The diode conducts current in only one direction, and it is made by joining a p-type semiconducting layer to an n-type semiconducting layer. Semiconductor diodes have multiple uses including rectification of alternating current to direct current, detection of radio signals, emitting light and detecting light.
