Correlations and Counting Statistics of an Atom Laser
Correlations and Counting Statistics of an Atom Laser

... Atom lasers represent a prime example of the dualism in the quantum description of nature. The characteristic feature of bosons is their tendency to clump together and multiply occupy the same phase space volume, thereby amplifying a single quantum mechanical mode to a macroscopic and observable lev ...

Construction and operation - the UQ Bose

... Research on degenerate quantum gases of dilute atomic gases has become a well established field in modern physics and revealed many astonishing phenomena. The first experiments on Bose and Fermi gases at low temperatures aimed to prove the predictions of quantum mechanics on a macroscopic scale. Since ...

X-ray fluorescence

X-ray fluorescence (XRF) is the emission of characteristic ""secondary"" (or fluorescent) X-rays from a material that has been excited by bombarding with high-energy X-rays or gamma rays. The phenomenon is widely used for elemental analysis and chemical analysis, particularly in the investigation of metals, glass, ceramics and building materials, and for research in geochemistry, forensic science and archaeology.
