Raman Scattering in Solids
Raman Scattering in Solids

... those are the mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity where Raman scattering helps to clarify the symmetry of the energy gap and its relation to the normal state carrier dynamics.23 Another area is the investigation of ferromagnetic oxides which are important for the development of spinelect ...

... • Raman lidar is used in atmospheric physics to measure the atmospheric extinction coefficient and the water vapour vertical distribution. • Stimulated Raman transitions are also widely used for manipulating a trapped ion's energy levels, and thus basis qubit states. • Raman amplification is used in ...

... relativistic coupled-cluster method [23,24]. All the three components of the dynamical polarizability, that is, the scalar, vector, and tensor polarizabilities [25], and the associated ac Stark shifts have been calculated for the cesium clock states [26–28]. Calculations of the adiabatic potentials ...

... antenna resonance occurs at h ≈ leff/2, where leff is the effective wavelength (14). In the antisymmetric mode, the current distribution in each arm approximates that of one half of a straight antenna of length 2h (Fig. 2B, right), and the condition for the first-order resonance of this mode is 2h ≈ ...

... The first consideration when purchasing a lens for focusing the beam of the ODT should be what focal length to use. The vacuum chamber is 7.5cm wide meaning that the atom cloud to be trapped will be located approximately 3.75cm inside the cell. This means that the focusing lens must have a focal len ...

The key to understanding interference is the principle of superposition which says simply that the combined effect of several waves at any place at a particular instant of time is given by the sum (vector sum if the wave property is a vector) of the wave property for the individual waves. Magnetic circular dichroism

Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) is the differential absorption of left and right circularly polarized (LCP and RCP) light, induced in a sample by a strong magnetic field oriented parallel to the direction of light propagation. MCD measurements can detect transitions which are too weak to be seen in conventional optical absorption spectra; they can also probe paramagnetic properties and the symmetry of the electronic levels of the studied systems, such as metal ion sites.
