... potential saturation regime), stresses associated with region 1 currents assume the dominant role in transmitting forces exerted by and on the solar wind. In all these discussions it appears mostly to have been taken for granted that the linear momentum supplied by the solar wind is simply transferr ...

... texts from the 4th century B.C. The earliest mention of a magnetic compass used for navigation is from a Chinese text dated 1040–1044 A.D., but it may have been invented there much earlier. It was apparently first used for orientation on land, not at sea. Thus magnetism at first referred to the long ...

... As already indicated, the study of the entanglement properties has led to useful insights in the context of quantum many-body systems. In particular, we want to discuss here qualitatively the so-called arealaw scaling of the entanglement entropy.6 Let us consider a connected subsystem A of a quantum ...

... In an insulator, an electron is attached to a particular atom. When certain non-conducting materials are used to fill the space between the two conductors of a capacitor the capacitance is found to increase. Such materials are known as dielectrics. Quantum vacuum thruster

A quantum vacuum plasma thruster (or Q-thruster) is a proposed type of spacecraft thruster that would work in part by acting on the virtual particles produced by quantum vacuum fluctuations. This was proposed as a possible model for an engine that could produce thrust without carrying its own propellant. Some physicists working with microwave resonant cavity thrusters think that they might be the first examples of such an engine.
