The future is here: climate change in the Pacific
The future is here: climate change in the Pacific

... The Australian and New Zealand governments must set higher medium and long-term emissions reduction targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Preventing catastrophic climate change in the Pacific means keeping warming as far below 2oC as possible compared to pre-industrial temperatures. To achieve ...

... In alpine and arctic ecosystems, warming experiments and long-term monitoring have documented significant increases in the growth and cover of woody species (Sturm et al., 2001; Walker et al., 2006; Myers-Smith et al., 2011). The frequency and extent of wildfires in these environments have also incr ...

(Zuo et al., 2014) and Loess Plateau (Liang et al., 2015), which included the JRB as a sub-basin, have identified the response of runoff to climate change and human activities by using a climate elasticity model based on the Budyko framework. Zuo et al. (2014) found that runoff in the JRB decreased ...

Financial markets are starting to reward companies that are moving ahead on climate change, while those lagging behind are being assigned more risk. (Coga ...

IPCC Fourth Assessment Report

Climate Change 2007, the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), is the fourth in a series of reports intended to assess scientific, technical and socio-economic information concerning climate change, its potential effects, and options for adaptation and mitigation. The report is the largest and most detailed summary of the climate change situation ever undertaken, produced by thousands of authors, editors, and reviewers from dozens of countries, citing over 6,000 peer-reviewed scientific studies. It supersedes the Third Assessment Report (2001), and is superseded by the Fifth Assessment Report. The headline findings of the report were: ""warming of the climate system is unequivocal"", and ""most of the observed increase in global average temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations.""
