Though linking number is a very useful invariant for linkage, Maxwell, who were very interested in knot theory, seemed to be the first to find two un-separable disjoint simple closed curves with linking number equal to 0 [4]. String theory and the origin of the universe—new idea, old problem
String theory and the origin of the universe—new idea, old problem

For example, the universe consists of nine or ten spatial dimensions, along with the one dimension of time.3 Furthermore, all forces arise from the same underlying force (just as electricity, magnetism and the weak force are already known to be ...

Quantum Mechanical Scattering using Path Integrals

Entanglement and Distinguishability of Quantum States
Entanglement and Distinguishability of Quantum States

... Entanglement is an algebraic property of quantum states. Its physical interpretation is typically related to non-locality. In our talk we will show that entanglement is physically related also with the concept of distinguishability of quantum states. Lets consider two systems differing by a unitary ...

Topological quantum field theory

A topological quantum field theory (or topological field theory or TQFT) is a quantum field theory which computes topological invariants.Although TQFTs were invented by physicists, they are also of mathematical interest, being related to, among other things, knot theory and the theory of four-manifolds in algebraic topology, and to the theory of moduli spaces in algebraic geometry. Donaldson, Jones, Witten, and Kontsevich have all won Fields Medals for work related to topological field theory. In condensed matter physics, topological quantum field theories are the low energy effective theories of topologically ordered states, such as fractional quantum Hall states, string-net condensed states, and other strongly correlated quantum liquid states.
