... The class B amplifier is more efficient than the class A amplifier. It is widely used in power amplifiers. The amplifier shown uses complementary transistors – one is an npn and the other is a pnp. The bias method shown avoids cross-over distortion by bringing the transistors just above cutoff using ...

Low-Voltage Low-Power Op Amp

... Low-voltage and low-power operation has been made possible by using the Texas Instruments silicon-gate LinCMOS technology. The LinCMOS process also features extremely high input impedance and ultra-low bias currents making these amplifiers ideal for interfacing to high-impedance sources such as sens ...

...  An MOV, or Metal Oxide Varistor, is a voltage suppression device that clamps a transient in an electrical circuit. It is also called a Varistor , or variable resistor, because its resistance changes with applied voltage. Sometimes they are referred to as a VDR, or Voltage Dependant Resistor, by so ...

... However, real-world signals are corrupted by noise that frequently contains higher frequency components than the signal itself. For example, if an ECG electrode is placed over a muscle, an unwanted electromyographic (EMG) signal may also be picked up (Cromwell et al., 1976). This problem is usually ...

... I recently had to repair the favourite radio of VK5YL (my wife), which is an ICOM 751A, and after much fooling about, finally discovered the problem. This was a shorted 100uF electrolytic in the main supply line of the VCOs. Point was that my fancy digital ESR checker did not find this faulty electr ...

... charge and discharge. If you have a really fast changing signal (like USB), a high value pull-up resistor can limit the speed at which the pin can reliably change state. This is why you will often see 1k to 4.7KΩ resistors on USB signal lines. All of these factors play into the decision on what valu ...

Valve RF amplifier

A valve RF amplifier (UK and Aus.) or tube amplifier (U.S.), is a device for electrically amplifying the power of an electrical radio frequency signal.Low to medium power valve amplifiers for frequencies below the microwaves were largely replaced by solid state amplifiers during the 1960s and 1970s, initially for receivers and low power stages of transmitters, transmitter output stages switching to transistors somewhat later. Specially constructed valves are still in use for very high power transmitters, although rarely in new designs.
