... • Galaxies have a red shift in light produced by the Doppler effect similar to sound (also used in radar) • The movement of galaxies away from us corresponds to an equation called "Hubble's Law" • The time elements in Hubble's Law permit the estimation of the age of the universe – about 13 billion y ...

Comparison Between Sawteeth Oscillations in Bean and Oval

... Magnetic reconnection (the tearing and healing of magnetic field lines) is thought to be responsible for many disruptive events observed in plasmas. In particular, it is believed to play a role in the magnetic storms that periodically beset communication satellites, as well as in the sawtooth oscill ...

Microplasma

Microplasmas are plasmas of small dimensions, ranging from tens to thousands of micrometers. They can be generated at a variety of temperatures and pressures, existing as either thermal or non-thermal plasmas. Non-thermal microplasmas that can maintain their state at standard temperatures and pressures are readily available and accessible to scientists as they can be easily sustained and manipulated under standard conditions. Therefore, they can be employed for commercial, industrial, and medical applications, giving rise to the evolving field of microplasmas.
