The immune system is characterized by a collaboration of various organs, cells, molecules, body fluids with clear division. In addition, immunity is considered as a complex network system able to response ...

... It has been well known that β-adrenoreceptors (β-ARs) exist on lymphocytes and they mediate the modulation of lymphocyte function (Maestroni 2006; Pesić et al. 2007). Our recent work has revealed that T lymphocytes express α1-ARs and α2-ARs, and activation of the α2-ARs suppresses T lymphocyte proli ...

Adoptive cell transfer

Adoptive cell transfer (ACT) is the transfer of cells into a patient; as a form of cancer immunotherapy. The cells may have originated from the patient him- or herself and then been altered before being transferred back, or, they may have come from another individual. The cells are most commonly derived from the immune system, with the goal of transferring improved immune functionality and characteristics along with the cells back to the patient. Transferring autologous cells, or cells from the patient, minimizes graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) or what is more casually described as tissue or organ rejection.
