Source resistance: the efficiency killer in DC-DC
Source resistance: the efficiency killer in DC-DC

... Considering a regulator from the input port instead of the output port is an unusual point of view. After all, regulators are designed to provide a constant-voltage (sometimes constant-current) output. Their specifications predominantly describe the output characteristics (output-voltage range, outp ...

Evaluates: MAX9940 MAX9940 Evaluation Kit General Description Features

... MAX9940. The absolute maximum voltage of the DATA signal of the microcontroller (U2) is specified to be (VDDIO + 0.5)V, i.e., 3.8V. When the MAX9940 detects a voltage greater than (VCC + 0.3)V, it automatically turns off, presenting the high voltage fault signal on its EXT pin from appearing on the ...

Determining Electric Motor Load and Efficiency
Determining Electric Motor Load and Efficiency

... Overloaded motors can overheat and lose efficiency. Many motors are designed with a service factor that allows occasional overloading. Service factor is a multiplier that indicates how much a motor can be overloaded under ideal ambient conditions. For example, a 10-hp motor with a 1.15 service facto ...

... The quiescent power is the voltage between the supply pins (VS) times the quiescent current (IS). Assuming the load (RL) is referenced to midsupply, the total drive power is VS/2 × IOUT, some of which is dissipated in the package and some in the load (VOUT × IOUT). Audio power

Audio power is the electrical power transferred from an audio amplifier to a loudspeaker, measured in watts. The electrical power delivered to the loudspeaker, together with its sensitivity, determines the sound power level generated (with the rest being converted to heat).Amplifiers are limited in the electrical energy they can amplify, while loudspeakers are limited in the electrical energy they can convert to sound energy without distorting the audio signal or being damaged. These power ratings are important to consumers finding compatible products and comparing competitors.
