Watchung Plaza, 54 Fairfield Street, Montclair NJ 07042 973.744.7177/www.watchungbooksellers.com RIDGEWOOD AVENUE SCHOOL Endangered Author Tour 2013 Author Visit Watchung Booksellers is thrilled to bring The “Endangered Authors!” National Group Tour, featuring the Story Pirates, to the 5th grade students at RAS on Wednesday, April 24. This is a fun, hilarious game show-themed theatrical program that includes trivia, comedy and interviews with the award-winning authors of the middle grade series A Tale Dark & Grimm (Adam Gidwitz), Wereworld (Curtis Jobling), The Chronicles of Egg (Geoff Rodkey), and The Books of Elsewhere (Jacqueline West.) The game requires the kids to answer questions about the books in the series so we really need to get the kids reading! We’ll have a few books available at the library and in the classrooms but given that the authors are available to sign and chat with the kids, we wanted to give you the opportunity to pre-order books for purchase. To do so, please return this form with your payment (any checks can be made out to RASHSA) to your child’s homeroom teacher no later than Friday, March 29th. Thanks! ENDANGERED AUTHORS TOUR 2013 Adam Gidwitz is a former elementary school teacher and storyteller. He is the author of A Tale Dark and Grimm, a New York Times bestseller, an ALA Notable Book and E.B. White Read Aloud Honor Book. His second book, In A Glass Grimmly, is both a Publishers Weekly and School Library Journal Best Book of 2012. He lives in Brooklyn, New York. Visit him online at www.adamgidwitz.com. In Adam Gidwit’z mischievous and utterly original debut, A TALE DARK AND GRIMM, Hansel and Gretel walk out of their own story and into eight other classic Grimminspired tales. As readers follow the siblings through a forest brimming with menacing foes, they learn the true story behind the bread crumbs, edible houses, and outwitted witches. The companion novel IN A GLASS GRIMMLY features an exciting new set of tales. Narrated in the same irreverently witty style the story follows the adventures of Jack and Jill and explores a whole new set of tales. Curtis Jobling is the successful creator of the Bob the Builder television series. His animation resume includes model work for Tim Burton's Mars Attack! and Wallace and Gromet's A Close Shave. He is the creator, director and producer of Nickelodeon's Curious Cow and the author and illustrator of several picture books. You can visit him at www.curtisjobling.com. Now, Curtis Jobling, turns his talents to the WEREWORLD fantasy series for middle grade readers. WEREWORLD tells the saga of Drew, a young man who learns he is a werewolf from a royal line of Werelords, and the rightful heir to the throne of Lyssia. His succeeding adventures bring readers into a series that boasts incredible world-building. A revolt against the tyrant King Leopold the Lion creates dueling races of Werelions, Catlords and Crowlords. With the odds stacked against him, Drew must face up to his kingship or all of Lyssia will be lost. Booklist says, “Give this series opener to fans of Flanagan’s Ranger’s Apprentice series.” Geoff Rodkey is the Emmy-nominated writer of such hit films as Daddy Day Care, RV, and the Disney Channel’s Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas. Geoff currently lives in New York City with his wife and three sons. Visit him online at www.chroniclesofegg.com. The Chronicles of Egg: #1 Deadweather and Sunrise is a stunning middle grade debut—full of heart, humor, and nonstop action. Twelveyear-old Egbert lives on Deadweather Island, home to broken-down pirates and his family’s ugly fruit plantation. Life on the island has never been easy for Egbert—less because of the pirate-infested waters and more because of the constant ridicule of his two older, obnoxious siblings. But things soon get even more difficult when Egg’s family disappears in a freak hot-air balloon accident. Egg finds himself on the run from a wealthy and powerful villain who’s trying to murder him for his connection to a hidden treasure—a connection Egg barely understands. Jacqueline West is an award-winning poet, former teacher, and occasional musician. She came to writing by way of opera (she studied vocal performance) and acting (she worked as an actress at a dinner theatre while earning her degree). Jacqueline lives with her husband and their dog, Brom Bones (of Sleepy Hollow fame). Visit her online at www.jacquelinewest.com. The Books of Elsewhere is an award-winning, bestselling, hair-raising series for fans of Roald Dahl and Neil Gaiman. The series was inspired by a strange old house in Jacqueline’s home town—three floors, cracking paint, sagging porches—that was owned by a professor who created all sorts of odd contraptions.
