Cell Organelle Flip Book Assignment: Create a flip book of different cell types and organelles for study and reference. Standard: SC.912.L.14.3 compare and contrast the general structures of plant and animal cells. compare and contrast the general structures of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. SC.912.L.14.2 relate structure to function for the components of plant and animal cells. explain the role of cell membranes as a highly selective barrier (passive and active transport). Flip Book Creation Instructions: Create a standard “flip book” foldable (refer to macromolecule project for instructions). This book needs 7 pieces of paper to produce “14 pages” of notes in the booklet. Flip Book Setup instructions: Page 1 – Front = Title (Cells and Organelles) and pictures of a Eukaryotic & a Prokaryotic cell; Back = compare/contrast eukaryotic vs. prokaryotic cells Organelle Pages: Page 2 – Nucleus Page 8 – Cytoskeleton Page 3 – cell membrane Page 9 - Lysosomes Page 4 – cell wall Page 10 – Mitochondria Page 5 – ribosomes Page 11 – Chloroplast Page 6 – Endoplasmic Reticulum Page 12 – Vacuoles Page 7 – Golgi body Page 13 – Cilia / Flagella Organelle Pages: Front of pages = electron micrograph picture and animated/drawing picture of organelle Back of pages = Information about organelle to include: detailed structure, primary function, how structure relates to function, and which cells the organelle is found within (eukaryotic vs prokaryotic. If eukaryotic – is it in plant, animal or both) Page 14 – Front = pictures of a both a plant and an animal cell; Back = compare/contrast plant vs. animal cells
