PREFACE In this publication, we present detailed results from 2007 Manufacturing Survey. The survey covers all of the manufacturing establishments in Israel (excluding Diamonds). The survey is an important source of statistical data on manufacturing, and provides a basis for following the development of manufacturing in Israel. The 2007 Manufacturing Survey is based on a sample that was drawn from the Business Register of the Central Bureau of Statistics. The sample was drawn for all industries in the economy (excluding Agriculture). The manufacturing establishments in the sample, based on the Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities, were included in the survey. The sample includes all dealers with one or more jobs, whereas manufacturing surveys up to 2003 included dealers with five or more jobs. Data on the other industries in the economy are presented separately in the publication Survey of Trade, Services Transport and Communications and Construction 2007. In this publication, we present data on a variety of topics, e.g.: number of jobs and compensation for jobs, revenue, output, gross value added, consumption of materials, stock, and gross capital formation. These are divided into approximately 70 categories of groups included in the 23 divisions. The data are presented by sector, district, sub-district, and selected localities, as well as by size groups (number of jobs in an establishment and annual revenue). In addition, data are presented on manufacturing industries by technological intensity. A summary of data from financial statements of the manufacturing industry for 2006 and 2007 is also presented. The CBS would like to thank the establishments that participated in the survey for their cooperation and for making data available.
