The skeleton is the name given to a collection of bones. The skeletal system has three major

A joint is a place where--------------------------------------------------------------all of your

the bones together and allow your rigid skeleton to move.

Most of your joints are 'synovial joints'. They are freely movable joints containing a
lubricating liquid called synovial fluid. Synovial joints are predominant in your limbs where
mobility is important. Ligaments help provide their stability and muscles contract to
produce movement. There are two types you will have to know about; the hinge joint
and the ball and socket joint.
