BIOLOGICAL LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION FOLDABLE
FIRST, MAKE A LAYERED-LOOK BOOK.
1. Collect 4 sheets of paper and layer them about 1inch apart vertically. Keep the
edges even.
2.
Fold up the bottom edges of the paper to form 8 equal tabs.
3.
Fold the papers and crease well to hold the tabs in place. STAPLE along the fold.
FRONT OF TAB (Top to bottom)
 Label Tab 1, MACROMOLECULES
 Label Tab 2, ORGANELLES
 Label Tab 3, CELLS
 Label Tab 4, TISSUES
 Label Tab 5, ORGANS
 Label Tab 6, ORGAN SYSTEMS
 Label Tab 7, ORGANISMS
1
BOTTOM OF FOLDABLE
 Write the title: BIOLOGICAL LEVELS OF ORGANIZATION
BACKSIDE OF EACH TAB
 TAB 1 – List the 4 macromolecules. Give examples for each (see images below).
1. PROTEIN – Cut n paste an AMINO ACID
2. CARBOHYDRATE – Cut n paste a molecule of GLUCOSE
3. LIPID – Cut n paste GLYCEROL and a TRIGLYCERIDE (fatty acid)
4. NUCLEIC ACID – Cut n paste a NUCLEOTIDE
 TAB 2 – Name 8 organelles. Draw a plant cell and label these organelles.
 TAB 3 – Tell the difference between a prokaryote & a eukaryote. Give examples of
each.
 TAB 4 – Define tissue. Give examples of four types of human tissues.
 Tab 5 – List one organ in these systems (circulatory, respiratory, digestive, excretory,
and immune).
 Tab 6 – List 8 of the human systems (Hint: 5 are listed above in tab 5)
 Tab 7 – List and give an example of an organism from each category: invertebrate,
vertebrate, plant, fungi, protist, bacteria.
You can include pictures for Tab 5 & Tab 7 (cut & paste, re-size them to fit)
