The latest one, with the largest number of species (21), is distributed from sea level to cordillera de los Andes. In order to increase the knowledge of the Ludwigia genus in the northeastern and insular region, an inventory in the herbarium IRBR was done. As a result, 13 species of Ludwigia are recorded associated with freshwater, some floating as Ludwigia helminthorrhiza, L. peploides and L. sedoides. The other species are erect (Ludwigia affinis, L. decurrens, L. erecta, L. hyssopifolia, L. leptocarpa, L. nervosa, L. octovalvis, L. peruviana, L. rigida and L. torulosa). Some duplicate material that was studied are deposited in VEN, MY, PORT and MO herbaria.
