Mongols Mongols were nomads In the early 1200’s AD they united under Genghis Khan. Unified forces to conquer a HUGE empire that stretched from the Pacific Ocean to Eastern Europe. Mongols & China History Mongols in China G.K. had the most highly trained, mobile armies and skilled horsemen in the world. They attack China. China tries to stop them using cannons and missiles. The Mongols win and take over China. Mongols in China Peaceful rulers Don’t change Chinese culture Economy grows, Mongols control the Silk Trade Route Culture spreads…gunpowder reaches the West. Marco Polo visits China and spreads knowledge to rest of world. Ming Dynasty A peasant led revolt overthrows Yuan (Mongol) Dynasty Economy grows. More manufacturing and new crops. Best ships in the world. Explore only close to home. Rulers do not see the benefits. Could have been the first imperialists instead of the Europeans.
