Measles is caused by a virus in the paramyxovirus family

How many people get it?
In 2008, there were 164 000 measles
deaths globally – nearly 450 deaths
every day or 18 deaths every hour.
More than 20 million people are
affected by measles each year
How to Cure Measles:
 -Vitamin A supplements have been shown to reduce the
number of deaths from measles by 50%.
 -Antibiotics (to prevent the spots becoming infected not to control the virus!)
 Routine measles vaccination for children, combined with
mass immunization campaigns in countries with high
case and death rates
How does it spread?
 The highly contagious virus is spread by coughing and
sneezing, close personal contact or direct contact with
infected nasal or throat secretions.

the mental state of a person who is
infected

Dull red rash that begins on
the middle of the body and
spreads
Extremely high fever (105-106
°F)
Hacking, dry cough..
Headaches
Joint pain
Nausea
Vomiting
How does it spread
It only affects humans
It is transmitted through ingestion of food or
water containing the feces of an infected
person
How its cured
Oral rehydration therapy
Common Antibiotics such as:ampicillin,
chloramphenicol, trimethoprimsulfamethoxazole, Amoxicillin
Number of infections per year
21 million cases world wide
200,000 deaths world wide
HIV
Toni and Tara
HIV in Humans
How many people suffer from the
disease?
How is it medically cured or
controlled?
Education – Educate people on the
general knowledge of the disease
Sexual transmission – Prevention with
condoms
Transmission through blood – Prevention
with using clean needles
The Different classes of HIV drug
treatments.
Chicken Pox (vaciella zoster virus)
Chicken Pox (Vaciella Zoster Virus)
Chicken pox is a highly contagious illness caused by a
primary infection with
Vaciella Zoster Virus. It usually starts with a vesicular skin
rash, mainly on the
Body and the head.
Chicken Pox (Vaciella Zoster Virus)
Chicken pox is an airborne disease spread easily
through coughing or sneezing of Ill individuals or through
direct contact with secretions from the rash. A person
with Chicken pox is infectious one to two days before
the rash appears. It takes from 10- 21 days after contact
with an infected person for someone to develop the
virus.
Chicken Pox ( Varciella Zoster Virus)
Prevention
Hygiene measures
Vaccine
A Varciella vaccine was first developed by
Michiaki Takashi in 1974 derived from an
Oka strain. It’s been available in the U.S.
Chicken Pox Varciella Zoster
Chicken Pox is a very contagious viral
disease and affects 4000-9000 people a
year
Malaria
Mahek Tulsiani and Rabia Shakeel
General Information
A protozoan disease
Spread through mosquitoes
Multiply inside red blood cells, which thus
break open in 48-72 hours, infecting
more blood cells

Symptoms include anemia,
bloody stools, chills, coma,
convulsion, fever, Jaundice,
muscle pain, nausea,
sweating and vomiting

How it can be cured or avoided
Mosquito nets
Getting rid of stagnant water
Mosquito repellants
Pesticide

or Mefloquine

Number of people infected
 “Statistics show that almost 70 to 80 percent of the world's
population has experienced athlete's foot at one point of
their lives. This is because it can easily be acquired by
direct contact with the things or person who has been
infected with the fungi.”

How can we cure this disease?

 Keeping foot dry
 Putting vinegar on foot
 Corn starch
 Tea tree oil
 Anti-fungal cream
