Caliphs who succeeded him.

– The weight of the newborns hair is equal to the weight
of silver the parents are to give to charity.

is a pilgrimage to Mecca called Hajj, that
must be made once during their life in
order to be a true Shiite.

MARRIAGE AND DEATH RITES

• Marriage is the foundation of society and family life.
– It is critical that each spouse is of the same faith
• Shiites believe that after death their soul either goes to “Garden of
Bliss” (paradise) or burns in hell for eternity.
– This is determined by the trials and tests that they endured their entire
life.
• Cremation is forbidden
• In the “Garden of Bliss” all their desires will not only be met but
exceeded.
