In 610 AD a man named Muhammad told is wife
about how the angel, Gabriel, had come to him
and given him a revelation.
His wife encouraged him to tell
everyone he knew, because what had happened
to him was a divine vision.

Foundations for Islam
Muhammad started preaching his new
monotheism religion publicly.
One-hundred families followed this new
religion now called Islam.
Islam means submission.
Muslims, one who submits to god.
Beliefs
• There is only one god
– No partners
• Angels
– Different ranks
• Prophets of god
– Moses, David, Solomon, Jonah, John the Baptist,
Jesus, and Mohammad.
• Holy Books
– Torah, Psalms, Gospels, and Qur’an
• Day of Judgment
– No assurance
Obligations
• Recite the Shahadah
• To Pray
– 5 times a day
– Facing Mecca
• To Fast ‘Ramadhan’
– During the day time only, for one month
• To Give Alms
– 2.5% of income to poor
• Make the Pilgrimage ‘Hajj’
Refuting
• They say the Bible has been corrupted, but they
say to read the Bible.
• They say we have three gods (the Trinity) we only
have one, who has three attributes
– They say Father, Son, Mary.
• They say God would not let Jesus be Crucified
Think about it
• If salvation is only a matter of rewarding those
who do good, and if God’s purpose was only to
test Abraham’s obedience, why then was there a
need for ‘a momentous sacrifice’? Was it not
sufficient that Abraham went as far as he did?
• Who provided ‘the momentous sacrifice’?
• Is a goat enough to ‘ransom’ humanity for our
sins?
• Jesus told about his death before he died
and he fulfilled all that the prophets had
said about the one who was to come to
take the sins of the world.
• Jesus was our perfect lamb, ‘the ransom,’
the one who came to take our place.
When we accept Him, we know that when
we die we will go to heaven.
