By Zach Abrams, Jonny Hackett, and Pat Granules: these are anything that can be early seen by a light microscope. Flagellum: Is a tail like organelle that directs the bacteria. Phili: Is the bacteria's equivalent to hands. They can be used for sensory or for grabbing and manipulating things at a distance. Bacterial Capsule: This can be thought of as a layer of extremely dense layer of phili that can be used for defense. This may not be found in all eubacteria cells. Cell Wall: The rigid outermost cell layer found in plants and certain algae, and bacteria. Provides structure to eubacteria cell. Cell Membrane: The cell membrane is a selectively permeable outer layer of the cell. This means that the cell wall will only let certain substances in or out of the cell. Like the cell wall the cell membrane can also provide structure to the cell. mRNA: mRNA or messenger ribonucleic acid is a molecule of RNA that is like a blueprint for a protein product. mRNA is copied from a DNA template, and carries the copied coding information to the ribosome's to make proteins. This can be compared to a recipe for a protein. DNA: DNA stores genetic information, such as the information to make proteins. Ribosome: The job of the ribosome is to use the “recipe” from the mRNA to produce the proteins directed by the mRNA from amino acids. Plasmid: is a non chromosomal DNA that is used to • • • • • Unicellular Reproduces asexually Don’t have nuclei Prokaryotes No cellular organelles A good example of member of the Proteotic Bacteria Phyla is E. Coli. E. Coli is a bacteria found in the intestines of cows and can contaminate beef and milk. This can cause disease, kidney failure, and even death. E. coli can also be found in other animals not causing pathologic reactions. Spirulina has been used for human food because of its high protein content and nutritional value. Some strains also produce bioactive substances that may inhibit or promote microbial growth. This bacteria in some cases is also the reason for flamingos pink feather color. Bacillus anthracis is a bacterium that has been found to cause dieses. This is similar to anthrax. Can be treated with antibiotics. • One bacterium organism that has had an impact on our society is anthrax. It has cause panic and mayhem in our mail systems because of its use in terror attacks in 2001 killing several. This bacteria is feared by the public mostly because of its use as a biochemical weapon. http://www.Wikipedia.com http://www.Google .com Google Image http://waynesword .palomar.edu/trfeb 98.htm http://www.ifremer .fr/docelec/notice/
