CA-NP-25
NP 2010 CBA
Q.
Can NP confirm that some of its Heavy Fleet vehicles have been purchased by firms
which provide contractor services to NP?
A.
Confirmed.
Contractors typically perform work for Newfoundland Power on unenergized or low
voltage electrical equipment. They typically also perform work for telecommunication
service providers.
Newfoundland Power’s heavy fleet vehicles are required to be capable of working on
energized circuits of up to 25,000 volts and responding in all circumstances to reinstate
electrical service to customers. Firms which provide contractor services to
Newfoundland Power do not undertake work on high voltage electrical circuits nor do
they perform customer outage response.
A heavy fleet vehicle which no longer meets the requirements of Newfoundland Power
may therefore be able to meet the requirements of a contractor which performs services
for the Company.
Please refer to response to Request for Information CA-NP-26.
