Press release
LambdaNet to provide GRENKELEASING with pan-European
VPN based on IP/MPLS
Hanover, 17 April 2002. LambdaNet Communications, European supplier of networkrelated telecommunications services based in Hanover, Germany, will outfit
GRENKELEASING AG with a pan-European high-speed VPN (Virtual Private
Network). Thanks to this IP/MPLS-based data communications service provided by
LambdaNet, the company will be able to build up its own private virtual IP network with
routing functions (Layer 3 VPN) to allow flexible data communication between all the
GRENKELEASING locations connected to the network in Europe. The company’s
Internet subsidiary, WEBLEASE NETBUSINESS AG, the first virtual leasing company
in Europe, is responsible for the entire GRENKE IT division and will be in charge of
project management.
Of the total 27 GRENKE locations (18 in Germany, 9 abroad), 10 locations in
Germany, France and Spain are currently connected via the λ-Net VIPNet: Barcelona,
Vienna, Strasbourg, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Memmingen, Karlsruhe, Düsseldorf and
Mönchengladbach. Now, GRENKE will be able to connect as many locations in Europe
as required. As soon as an additional location is hooked up, it is able to communicate
with all the other locations. As a result, GRENKE communications take place on its
own corporate network, which acts just like a network with an infrastructure of its own.
LambdaNet offers this network solution for bandwidths from 2 Mbits/s to 1 Gbits/s. In
addition, a flexible pricing model and usage-dependent billing guarantees that the
system is customized to meet the needs of Weblease’s individual data traffic profile.
For billing purposes, LambdaNet charges only for the actual bandwidth used during a
month.
“We plan to continue to optimise our leasing logistics by expanding our IT
infrastructure. In order to do this, LambdaNet is providing us with an innovative service
for data communications in carrier-class quality. This IP/MPLS-based service offers us
high operative reliability and scalability for extremely flexible utilization,” comments
Matthias Haberichter, CEO at WEBLEASE NETBUSINESS AG.
