Sample Protocol
Pump Used: (2) PM048-A: 400 ml x 4 ml/hr (dual; 2 ml/site),
(4) 10 inch ON-Q SilverSoaker® catheters
Drugs in Pump: Local anesthetic of physician’s choice.

Pre-Incision Infiltration: Local anesthetic.

Catheter Placement:

First Pump: Abdominal Side: Two 10 inch catheters are inserted through the introducer needles superior to the umbilical level and
pulled down lateral to the plication across the rectus sheath and then split off to the left and the right at the place of incision. The
drain is placed between the two catheters.

Second Pump: Flank Side: Two 10 inch catheters are inserted through the introducer needles superior to the right flank incision.
One catheter is pulled down across the right flank incision and the second catheter is coiled up until left flank side is opened.
Once the left flank flap is removed, the second catheter is pulled across to the left flank incision.

Catheter Securement: Coil and secure catheters with Steri-Strips™ and Tegaderm™.

Additional Postoperative Pain Medications: Percocet® and Phenergan® as needed.
• Patient may experience loss of motor control or feeling at and around the surgical area. Physician should instruct patient on appropriate measures to
follow to avoid patient injury.

• Medications used with this system should be administered in accordance with instructions provided by the drug manufacturer. Surgeon is responsible for
prescribing drug based on each patient’s clinical status (e.g., age, body weight, disease state of patient, concomitant medication(s)).
• Vasoconstrictors such as epinephrine or adrenaline are not recommended for continuous infusions.
• Refer to ON-Q Pump Directions for Use for full instructions on using the ON-Q Pain Relief System.
