LASER GENESIS POST-LASER RESURFACING INSTRUCTION SHEET
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
v
Avoid direct exposure to sunlight during the first 4 weeks following your laser treatment. A sunscreen of SPF 30 or greater should be used everyday
once your skin has healed
v
You may experience any pain, discomfort or stinging, which usually lasts for 1-3 days.
v
Take the oral antibiotic and/or antiviral medications that have been prescribed for you.
v
Keep your head elevated by sleeping on 2 pillows for 1-2 days to help minimize swelling.
v
Avoid any trauma, such as scratching or rubbing, to the treated area. Do not attempt to exfoliate.
v
Showers are permitted, but gently pat the area to dry. (lukewarm showers permitted)
v
Drink plenty of water.
v
Moisturize treated area as needed.
v
You may restart Retin-A, Tazorac, Differin, hydroquinone compounds or any other alpha-hydroxy type products 3 days after the procedure or per
Provider’s instructions.
WOUND CARE INSTRUCTIONS: The basic principle behind your post-operative wound care is to avoid crusting and to keep the
skin as moist as possible.
v On daily basis use Post Treatment Products provided.
Step 1 - Cleanse with Ultra Gentle Cleanser such as Skinceuticals Gentle Cleanser or NeoCleanse (for sensitive skin)
without rubbing, rinse with water to remove any remaining product two times per day.
Step 2 - Apply Cicalfate/Biafine/Aquaphor, Cetaphil cream, gently at least every two hours during waking hours then
3 times per day for one week.
Step 3 - Use a sunscreen with SPF 30 protection daily – reapply every 90 minutes if outdoors.
RX – As Prescribed – (Staff please check off)
Valtrex – take two 1 gram tablets today, then two 1 gram tablets the next day - used to prevent Herpes Simplex
Virus (Cold Sores)
Cutivate – use morning and night for 5 days only – small pea size. This is a steroid and is needed only for itching
and inflammation of treated area. Intended to be used only for a short time. Do not use if you do not experience
itching or inflammation
Hydroquinone – Epiquin Micro or Triluma . This medication must be used twice daily, generally in the morning
and before going to bed. This medication is applied after a gentle cleanse to your face after your skin is pat dried. You
must always use a broad spectrum SPF 30 daily during daylight hours in the summer and winter months.
