UCSF Medical Center
at Mission Bay
Facts & Figures
On February 1, 2015, one of the nation’s
premier medical centers opened the
doors of a new world-class facility.
Hospitals
UCSF Medical Center has opened three
state-of-the-art hospitals at UCSF’s
Mission Bay campus, where top
clinicians will join expert researchers
to develop next-generation therapies
and cures.
Exceptional Features
• UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay
is green on the outside - literally with 60,000 square feet of rooftop
gardens and 100,000 square feet of
ground landscaping.
• UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay
is among the greenest urban hospitals in the nation. On Jan. 28, it was
awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy
and Environmental Design) Gold Accreditation, one of the first hospitals
in California to achieve this honor.
• A fleet of tireless robots works around
the clock to remove and deliver
food and linens, medications and lab
specimens.
• A media platform is available to all
inpatients, enabling them to order
room service, Skype with coworkers
and classmates, update social media
accounts, pick from an expansive
selection of movies and e-mail their
clinical team.
• Patient-friendly imaging scan suites
are tailored for both children and
adults, enabling them to experience
a Golden Gate sunset or a trolley ride
around San Francisco by controlling
light, sound and visuals.
• Clean to the extreme. Smooth
surfaces, minimal ledges and
equipment mounted on the ceiling
where it cannot be touched facilitate
hygiene maintenance - a significant
benefit for immunocompromised
patients susceptible to infection.
• An onsite helipad will transport
pregnant women, newborns, and
children with serious complications
from outlying hospitals to UCSF
Medical Center at Mission Bay.
